Wedding Flowers

Hello everybody,

Thought I would come and show you the flowers I have tried out for my wedding flowers.  I said in a previous post that I was planning on using the Tim Holtz Tattered Floral Die to create my bouquet.  However I have a change of heart, but here is some pictures of the trial flowers.

To create the flowers, I used 4 of the large flowers, 2 of the medium and 2 of the small flowers.  I dyed them using Tim Holtz Adirondack Lights in Pink Sherbet & Raspberry.  I scrunched them up while still wet, gently unfolded them and dried them using a heat gun.  I then layered them in order of size and added either a peral or sparkle to the centre of them.  To finish them off I sprayed them with Glimmer Mist in both Iridescent Gold and Candy Apple Red.

I do really like the Tim Holtz flowers, but I found something on Pinterest that I had to try. Giant Crepe Roses (tutorial here), I thought they were very unusual and would make nice table centres. Having made one I have also decided to have one as my main bouquet.

The instructions for the roses calls for double sided crepe paper, however the only stockist I can find this on-line is charging £15 for delivery! So if anybody knows of any other stockists out there I would love it if you cold let me know.  For the trial rose I used 1 ply paper & it has turned out okay, but would like to try it with the 2 ply just to see the difference.

  1. Wow, and double wow!! I love the TH flowers but then I saw the rose :)) Perfect!! I think the double crepe you're looking for could be Gloria Doublette crepe paper, I don't think it's 2-ply as in paper tissue style, it seems to have a lighter and then a darker shade of each colour on the reverse and is probably a bit thicker than standard crepe paper. It's made in Germany and not easy to find over here as you say. Homecrafts Direct seem to stock it, with a decent P & P cost.

I think you did an amazing job with what you used - so delicate too! Di xx

  4. WOW Gilly . . . I'm with everyone else on this . . .the TF flowers are superb, but the ROSE is STUNNING. I can see why you changed your mind. LOVE the fact that as your are a paper crafter, your wedding flowers will echo this! Good luck sourcing a supplier, I'm afraid I'm of no help to you.
