Mother of Pearl Poppy

Good Afternoon,

Well after a glorious weekend of weather the sky if back to looking a dull grey colour.  Oh well it was fun while it lasted.

I am on a day off today, so spending it sitting at my craft desk.  Todays make is a last minute addition to the challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.

Supplies Used:
Penny Black - Poppy Poem
Pink Petticoat backing paper
Frost White Shimmer paint to create the mother of pearl effect
Ribbon from my stash.

Here is the sketch that I followed; although my addition of the ribbon might not fit in with the sketch.

Thanks for visiting

  2. Personally I like your decision to use ribbon. It fits well on the card and lets the poppy stand out.

  3. This is stunning Gillian! Love the BG papers and that poppy is gorgeous. Can't wait for mine to bloom, tons of buds this year.

  4. I think it's great - the ribbon works really well! The colours are gorgeous. M x

  5. These colors are wonderful together! Classic card!

  6. So elegant! The red and black makse such a dramatic card! Thanks for joining us at Freshly Made Sketches!

  7. Just perfect Gilly - a brave, and very right decision with the ribbon, and see, the DT love it :) Well done, it should be a winner.

How amny days left until the wedding now? Do tell if you join us to play in the playground this week!

    Di xx

  9. Hello Gillian,

it's been a week, I have not looked at your blog ... :-( and you were extremely creative!
This card with the poppy is simply beautiful and the colors are so well associated!

Time is a little better and I had to do hard in my garden!
Now I see the end and I hope to have a little more time for the blogosphere! :-)

    Hugs Daen'Ys
